US Leadership for a Nuclear Weapons-Free World at the United Nations
On September 24, 2009, President Barack Obama chaired a special session of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) focusing on nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation. The UNSC unanimously passed Resolution 1887, which calls for a nuclear weapons-free world. The Nuclear Age Peace Foundation applauds President Obama for his leadership and provides suggestions for next steps (see below).
